I'm excited to announce the Holiday Gallery Show Saturday, December 2, 2023. Plan now to stop by the gallery between 12 pm and 5 pm to browse my latest collection of new art of my own and a handful of my favorite local artists.
I'll also be in the gallery to host visitors on Sunday, December 3, 2023 as a part of this year's Christmas House Tour of local homes. Be sure to check the Quakertown Alive! site to get your tickets and reception information. I'm overjoyed to share the season with our community.
Gallery Update December 2021
Gallery Update July 2021
Easels up! A gentle call for artists.
Ever since I migrated north, I've thought Upper Bucks is ripe for an art event.
I entertained the idea of a plein air paint out, and ever since Main Street Gallery got up and running, it seems the perfect venue from which to start. Weighing the pros and cons of a summertime happening, I chose August for now.
I don’t want to crowd Spring and Fall calendar of events, and although its hot, not much is happening then.
I’m keeping this event small with little fanfare to help iron out wrinkles to make 2022 the 1st Annual Upper Bucks Plein Air Paint Out.
This year’s event will be a trial run with an opportunity for troubleshooting.
So if you’re not down the shore and want to participate, set up your easels in the Upper Bucks area Saturday or Sunday, August 21-22. Then turn your work with a frame to Main Street Gallery, where a reception will take place the following Sunday from 11-5 with watermelon, lemonade and air conditioning.

Gallery Update May 2021
There's so much to look forward as I anticipate spring, summer and fall!
I'm thrilled to be this year's Featured Artist at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, part of the Historic Bethlehem Museum and Sites.
Now through January 2022, you can visit and enjoy not only my works, but the entire Art at Home presentation: Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder. This collection was curated by gathering art created by local artists but which had found homes in and around the Lehigh Valley. Upon request, the many art lovers who'd hung these in their own homes have agreed to loan back these works for this once in a lifetime exhibit.

Plein Air in Upper Bucks
In August 2021, I will be hosting the first Annual Upper Bucks Summer Paintout!
Since opening Main Street Gallery in Quakertown, serving on the board of our Historic Society and working closely with both Quakertown Alive! and the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce, my idea has made it to the planning stage. I'll post more specific details here in June, so check back soon!
Traditional Artists Show
This summer I'll be preparing for the 11th Annual Traditional Artists Show (And yes, to our great dismay given the pandemic, we had to skip it in 2020.) While you'll recognize some faces, I'm pleased to let you know we've added a host of talented artists who will breathe new excitement into the highly anticipated event. Be sure to mark your calendar for October 22-24, 2021 to enjoy this event which will be held at The Conservatory at 4059 Skyron Drive in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
September 2019
We're launching the Socrates Café beginning Sunday, September 8 at 11 a.m. We'll be holding this fun and light gathering the second Sunday of every month right here in the gallery! I'm looking forward to seeing you there. While we have a limited number of folding chairs available, if you have a pop-up chair that suits you, (you know, the kind you bring to those outdoor sporting events) feel free to bring it along as the gallery, for obvious reasons has limited storage space.
I'm excited to be a part of the Richard Moore House Dedication event on September 14. Hosted by the Quakertown Historical Society, this community event will celebrate the unveiling of the Historical Marker that recognizes the role this local home and its owner played in the Underground Railroad. Located in the heart of Upper Bucks County, this home represents a beacon of hope to those who searched for freedom, and
it's just blocks from the Main Street Gallery,
I'm looking forward as well to September 27-29 for the 10th Annual Traditional Artist Show. Held at The Conservatory at 4059 Skyron Drive in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, this event is one of the highlights of the year, and one that is near and dear to my heart.
February 2019
I've been looking forward to starting up the studio oil painting classes again, especially leaving a rather harrowing personal 2018 behind. I'm good to go in head and heart.
Our sticking point now is logistic; although the Arts & Events Place building is heated, the second floor's large, open classroom with its high ceilings... not so much when temperatures drop as they do this time of year. Eventually we will have gas heat for the classroom, but alas, urgent plumbing renovations at Main Street Gallery took away our attention. Flooded ceiling and walls are history now. Phew !
I'm closely monitoring the comfort situation in the classroom , so in a few short weeks, when I feel the worst of winter weather has eased, I'll give everyone a heads-up. Believe me, I'm looking forward to getting back into my teaching groove. I know some of us are chomping at the bit and I'm grateful for the patience you've all shown me.
On the gallery front, I am working feverishly on commissions and to refill spaces left open as visitors and friends made their holiday purchases that have kept brushes in my hand, the lights on and warmth in my heart. And I'm excited about our plan for the gallery to host Quakertown's only Socrates Café, a place to gather, ask questions, hear ideas and sip coffee on the regular. Stay tuned for more details.
All my best,
Jim
